How To Find Out VPS Uptime

When managing a Linux VPS on own, it is a good idea to know how long it has been running and if there are any potential bottlenecks on the way. To know the VPS uptime besides logging in to your hosting provider’s dashboard and checking it , there is a quick way to know this.

Using any SSH app like Putty, login to the VPS server and type :

uptime

This will display the time period for which the VPS server has been running (after the last reboot) and also give an idea about load estimates.

If logging via SSH seems boring, there are other services that give very detailed uptime stats as well as reliability report like Pingdom. (For finding uptime in Windows, check out this older post).

Cheers.
