Control Panel contains most of the stuff that is needed for customizing Windows and it can become a bit time consuming to every time hit Start menu and launch it in Windows 7.
To put the Control Panel icon directly on desktop :
1. Go to Start > Control Panel and right click it.
2. Select Show on Desktop option.
This will put the Control Panel icon directly on desktop in Windows 7.
The other way is the old fashioned way of selecting Control Panel from Start Menu by left clicking and dragging it directly to desktop.
